Good student athletes possess particular traits that make them excel on and off the field. Among the characteristics are a strong academic focus and a commitment to responsibility. Student athletes should develop good study habits early on because their eligibility to play in a game is based on performance in the classroom. Seeking the assistance of a tutor and taking advantage of study hall periods helps student athletes stay on top of assignments. Juggling school and participation in sports may be difficult because student athletes often miss class to travel to tournaments. In this instance, responsible players communicate their absence with their teachers in advance and make arrangements to make up missed schoolwork. They also demonstrate responsibility by managing their time efficiently, so they can turn in their assignments on time, despite any absences related to sports. |
